Our church holds to a "presbyterian" form of church government {or polity}. In the New Testament there are two offices that were meant to be permanent throughout the church age: 1. elder and 2. deacon. The terms "elder," "pastor," "shepherd," and "overseer" are properly synonyms. The Reformed tradition has inferred from passages like 1 Timothy 5:17 that, although there is one office of elder, there is nevertheless a "division of labor" between what are called "teaching" and "ruling" elders.
